Former Vice President and leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has charged members of the party and residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, to mobilise massively and vote out what he described as “forgers and unpatriotic leaders” in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for February 21.
Atiku gave the charge when he personally stormed the campaign rally of the ADC chairmanship candidate for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Dr. Moses Paul, popularly known as Dr. Mo, held in Abuja.
Addressing party supporters and residents, Atiku declared that the ADC represents a coalition of patriotic Nigerians determined to rescue the country from bad governance. He stressed that no other political platform currently offers Nigerians the opportunity for genuine change and accountable leadership like the ADC.
According to him, the forthcoming local government elections provide an important opportunity for citizens to begin the process of reclaiming governance at the grassroots.
“This is the time for Nigerians who are tired of lies, forgery and bad leadership to stand up and take back their country,” Atiku said. “ADC is a platform for credible and patriotic Nigerians who are ready to rescue Nigeria.”
The former Vice President further appealed to eligible voters in Abuja to ensure they complete their online registration and actively participate in the election process.
He specifically called on residents of AMAC to vote for Dr. Moses Paul (Dr. Mo), describing him as a credible alternative who would replace what he termed a corrupt and unpatriotic administration currently in power at the local council level.
“Come out en masse and vote for Dr. Mo. It is time to get rid of governments built on lies and forged credentials. The future of your local government and your children depends on the choices you make today,” Atiku added.
The rally witnessed a large turnout of ADC supporters, youth groups and community leaders, as the party intensifies campaigns ahead of the February 21 local government polls in the Federal Capital Territory.
