In a remarkable display of royal generosity and honour, the Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ph.D. (Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode, Olofin Apesin Olode), has presented a brand new Toyota Jeep to High Chief Rufiat Ojugbele-Mathew, the esteemed Iyalode of Ottaland.
The symbolic presentation took place on Thursday, April 16, 2026, shortly after the Olota-in-Council meeting held at the Ipeti Royal Square, Olota’s Palace, Enu Owa, Otta. The historic moment was witnessed by high-ranking chiefs and members of the Council, who applauded Kabiyesi for yet another act of generosity and leadership.
The gesture was not only royal but deeply personal, as it coincided with the birthday celebration of the Iyalode, making it a double moment of honour, celebration, and recognition of her contributions to the kingdom.
Visibly emotional, High Chief Rufiat Ojugbele-Mathew expressed heartfelt gratitude to Kabiyesi, describing the gift as a profound mark of love and appreciation. She prayed for the monarch, asking God to grant him long life, divine wisdom, and a peaceful, prosperous reign.
She further commended the Olota for his consistent support for women’s inclusion and empowerment within the kingdom, noting that his reign has continued to open doors for greater participation of women in leadership and traditional affairs.
This gesture stands as a shining example of royal appreciation, cultural honour, and leadership with compassion in the Awori Kingdom.
