The ancient town of Esa-Oke in Osun State has been thrown into mourning following the passing of the revered Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, who joined his ancestors on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The announcement was made by the Ijesa Community Development Assembly through a statement signed by the Asiwaju of Ijesaland and Chairman of the Assembly, Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi.
Described as a monarch of dignity, wisdom, and uncommon humility, the late royal father was celebrated for his peaceful reign and his unwavering dedication to the unity and development of Esa-Oke and the entire Ijesaland.

According to the statement, Oba Adediran was more than a traditional ruler. He was portrayed as a custodian of culture, a stabilizing voice during communal challenges, and a bridge between ancient traditions and modern societal realities.
“Kabiyesi was a monarch of quiet strength and thoughtful leadership, whose presence brought stability and reassurance in times of communal challenges,” the statement noted.

Throughout his reign, the monarch reportedly championed causes that promoted education, youth empowerment, peace-building, and community advancement. His palace became a symbol of inclusiveness and wisdom, while his influence extended beyond Esa-Oke into the wider Ijesa community.
Observers within the region believe his reign strengthened the relevance of traditional institutions in modern governance and communal development. His ability to unite people across social and political divides earned him admiration among elders, youths, and community stakeholders alike.

The death of the monarch has been described as a monumental loss to Esa-Oke, the Obokun Traditional Council, and the entire Ijesaland, where his counsel and leadership were highly respected.
Condolences have continued to pour in from sons and daughters of Ijesaland at home and in the diaspora, with many describing the late king as a father figure whose legacy of peace and cultural pride will remain evergreen.

The ICDA also extended sympathies to the royal family, Esa-Oke indigenes, traditional rulers across Obokun Local Government, and the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland.

As the ancient town mourns its departed monarch, many residents are reflecting on the enduring values Oba Adeyemi Adediran represented — peace, unity, dignity, and service to humanity.
Indeed, though the throne may temporarily become vacant, the memories and legacies of the late

Owamiran will continue to echo through the hills and heritage of Esa-Oke for generations to come.
