Social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has criticised the presence of some All Progressives Congress governors and political figures in Osun State during the governorship election, questioning their role as observers and alleging that their presence could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
In a strongly worded social-media post directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, VDM accused the APC political establishment of creating what he described as a “bullying” and “oppressive” political structure.
He questioned why APC governors would travel to Osun to observe the election and alleged that their presence raised concerns about possible pressure, manipulation or interference in the process.
VDM said:
“Let his people decide in a free and fair election.”
He further argued that the deployment of prominent APC governors and senators to Osun could create doubts about the credibility and fairness of the election.
However, VDM stressed that his intervention should not be interpreted as campaigning for Governor Ademola Adeleke. According to him, a performing governor should ordinarily be able to rely on his record before the electorate.
He cited Abia State Governor Alex Otti as an example while maintaining that Osun voters should be allowed to determine their preferred governor without intimidation or undue political influence.
VDM also warned about the long-term consequences of what he considers an excessively powerful political structure, saying such a system could eventually create problems even for those currently benefiting from it.
The allegations of planned manipulation or rigging remain VDM's claims and should not be presented as established facts without supporting evidence.
