Modele Sarafa-Yusuf has announced her resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the decision followed an extended period of reflection, travelling and spending time with her family.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 27, 2026, Sarafa-Yusuf disclosed that she had formally informed the leadership of the APC in Ogun State and submitted her resignation letter.
She described her time in the ruling party as an important part of her political journey, expressing appreciation for the relationships, experiences and opportunities that helped shape her understanding of leadership and public service.
According to her, however, there comes a point when an individual must have the courage to reassess the direction of his or her political journey.
“At this point in my journey, I believe it is important to consider carefully how best I can continue to contribute to Ogun State and Nigeria,” she stated.
Sarafa-Yusuf stressed that her resignation should not be interpreted as withdrawal from politics or public service, maintaining that her commitment to service remains strong.
She listed service, integrity, inclusion, competence and a genuine desire to make a difference among the values that would continue to guide her future political decisions.
“I am not stepping away from public service. I am taking the next step in the journey,” she declared.
She added that she would, for now, return to her professional and business commitments after her holiday while taking time to determine the direction and form of the next phase of her political engagement.
Sarafa-Yusuf did not disclose whether she intends to join another political party.
She wished the APC and members of the party well as she begins what she described as the next phase of her journey.
