Tensions between Iran and the United States have sharply escalated following a deadly strike on a wedding gathering in Kuhestak, Sirik County, southern Iran.
Iranian mourners have buried victims of the attack, which has now reportedly claimed five lives, including a four-year-old child, while nearly 70 others were wounded.
Iran has blamed the United States for the strike. Reuters reported that analysis of verified images and videos by weapons experts indicated the explosion was likely caused by a direct hit from a U.S. munition. Washington says the incident is being investigated, while the U.S. military maintains that it does not deliberately target civilians.
Following the attack, Iran launched missiles and drones against U.S. military positions in the region, including a base in Kuwait, as renewed fighting intensified fears of a wider Middle East confrontation.
The latest escalation has also shaken global energy markets, with oil prices climbing amid concerns over shipping and supplies through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
