VENO tv: OGUN POLITICS ROFOROFO FIGHT LOOMS AS HUNYE WELCOMES YAYI’S LAWSUIT THREAT OVER EKITI ORIGIN CLAIM
Date: 16-09-26

By Kayode Adoide

The political battle in Ogun State appears set to take another dramatic turn as All Progressives Congress member and governorship aspirant, Hon. Abayomi Hunye, has welcomed the threat of legal action by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, over claims concerning the senator’s alleged Ekiti ancestry.
Senator Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District and is recognised by the APC as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election, had given Hunye and PDP chieftain Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello 24 hours to produce evidence supporting allegations that he is originally from Ekiti State or face legal action. Adeola has described the claims as false and defamatory.
But Hunye’s camp has responded that it is prepared to meet the senator in court.

In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Femi Oyewale, Hunye maintained that his camp possesses documentary evidence which it intends to present before a court of competent jurisdiction. His camp also claimed that a related dispute over Adeola’s ancestry is already before the court.
Hunye described the 24-hour ultimatum as unnecessary, arguing that questions surrounding the origin and eligibility of anyone seeking to govern Ogun State are matters of legitimate public interest.
His camp further maintained that the controversy should be settled through evidence presented before the judiciary rather than through exchanges in the media.

The development is expected to further heat up Ogun politics as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Adeola’s camp, however, has consistently rejected suggestions that he is not an indigene of Ogun State. Traditional authorities in Kemta, Egbaland, have also publicly affirmed Adeola’s ancestral connection to their community.
With Hunye declaring his readiness for a legal showdown and Adeola insisting that allegations about his origin are false, the political “roforofo” in Ogun State may now be moving from the media space to the courtroom.
VENO tv will keep monitoring developments.
