VENO NEWS::OPINION GLOWING TRIBUTES TO BOLA MOSURO

Hello, this is Newsday on BBC with Julian King and Bola Mosuro... Hello, welcome to Newsday with James Copnall and Bola Mosuro... For those who keep up with the news or are keen on current affairs worldwide and listen to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in Africa and across the globe, the name, BOLA MOSURO rings a bell.

She is a radio broadcaster at BBC News and one of the Newsday (formerly Network Africa) presenters. Newsday is a breakfast programme, broadcast every weekday across the continent of Africa on BBC. Bola Mosuro is also one of the presenters of Focus on Africa, a lunch programme, aired every weekday too on the same station. She is a seasoned journalist and broadcaster who has been with the BBC for 31 years.

Bola is proudly Nigerian based in the United kingdom where the deputy PM resigns today and raised both in Lagos and London. She is as well a proud 'omo' Yoruba (Yoruba child). For 12 years now, Bola Mosuro has been presenting the programme, Newsday, alongside other seasoned and incredibly talented African journalists/presenters.

The lady of substance is extremely good at what she does and knows best - journalism. One thing uniquely unique about Bola is her pronunciation of the letter 'r'. Quite natural and interesting! She is a mother and indeed a shining example to female YOUTH who aspire to or dream of being journalists/broadcasters. Her voice is iconic/pleasant and a delight to listen to. Not a hyperbole/exaggeration. Bola is very good!

Life is a journey. Rational/responsible people leave a stage while the ovation is loudest. After 31 years working at BBC, Bola Mosuro, in her late 50s, has decided to leave the broadcasting corporation for good. It is really sad but life goes on... Is she going on retirement? Not certainly certain right now.

Retirement age has been a contentious issue in France recently with the authorities planning to raise the age from 62 to 64. Why the fuss or noise? In Nigeria, The Gambia and other African nations, the retirement age is 60 which is outrageous/ridiculous. The president of Cameroon is over 90 years. If presidents/leaders do not retire at 60, then the mandatory retirement age for ordinary people is illogical. The age of retirement should be voluntary or pegged at 70, at least. African people are NOT lazy. They are hardworking!

It is fervently hoped that Bola Mosuro is NOT considering going on retirement cos she is still young and active/energetic. Not even advisable to be a full-time mother in that she has still a lot to render to humanity.

Whenever good people do leave a stage, there would be outpouring of emotions and tributes. Bola deservedly deserves the glowing tributes from across Africa and the entire world. Everything has been quite emotional! Everyone speaks glowingly of the amazing/extraordinary lady for making not only Nigeria proud but also the continent of Africa. Bola would be greatly missed!

Hopefully, her friend and co-presenter of Focus on Africa, Audrey Brown, will not follow suit soon. She too is extremely good and a shining example. Audrey is proudly South African. No doubt, there are talents and huge potential on the continent of Africa. But for bad leadership, corruption and mismanagement, Africa should have been the envy of other continents.

Finally, as Bola Mosuro opens a new chapter/page in life, she is wished all the good things she wishes for herself and family and urged to stay blessed. No condition is permanent, not even our troubles. Huge thanks to Bola for making Nigeria/Africa proudly proud. Nigeria/Africa is in turn really proud of her.
