It has been a year since BATKSM were inaugurated as President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I was thrilled to discover some of the initiatives rolled out by the Office of the Vice President to complement PBAT's Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on Education, Youth Empowerment, and Agriculture, among others, aimed at catapulting the nation to a higher pedestal.

Firstly, the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative (OTNI) was launched in Gombe on March 4, 2024, strategically redirecting the country's abundant talents and skills to capture a significant portion of the global BPO market valued at $8.79 trillion. Secondly, the Federal Government and ALAT launched the Skillnovation Programme (FG-ALAT), a transformative initiative partnered with WEMA Bank, impacting 2 million youths and 1 million small businesses across benefiting states.

In partnership with the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), the Office of the Vice President (OVP) launched the Accelerated Senior Secondary Education Programme (ASSEP) in the Northeast on the 18th of May, 2024, transforming key educational outcomes in the region devastated by Boko Haram, by upgrading teachers' and students' skills and qualities, stimulating learning, and incentivizing high achievement in Science and skills development. Furthermore, the OVP continued implementing the $617.7 million Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (i-DICE) program across Nigeria's 36 states and the FCT, creating millions of direct and indirect jobs in the creative and technology sector.

The Pulako Initiative addresses the root causes of farmers-herders clashes, insurgency, banditry, and poverty in the northern region, with N50 billion allocated to rebuild the northwest states, Niger, and Benue, part of the North-central. However, food security has been a daunting challenge, and VP Shettima, through his foundation, has rolled out the "Kashim Shettima Foundation's Agricultural Empowerment Programme" in Kaduna State, on March 12, 2024, which includes distributing tractors, seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, and other essential farming inputs to beneficiary farmers, mostly youths selected across major regions for the 2024 farming season.

The scheme also provides financial incentives of N100,000 per month to each of the 50 beneficiaries for four months, covering the planting period, and at the end of the season, farmer cooperatives, comprising 50 farmers, will also receive startup funds of up to N30 million to establish full-fledged commercial farms.

In highlighting VP Kashim Shettima's strides on his first anniversary, one is impressed by his purposeful leadership and complementary efforts, demonstrating a strong commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and a brighter future for Nigeria. This showcases his intellectual prowess and administrative sagacity, leaving his critics in awe.

Finally, I join other well-meaning Nigerians in celebrating the one year of purposeful leadership of BATKSM and look forward to witnessing the fruit of the solid foundation laid through the tough policies meant to revitalize and set the nation on the path of prosperity.
