VENO tv: TRIBUTE IN HONOUR OF PA ELEKURU: THE BIG ELEPHANT HAS FALLEN
Date: 18-03-25

By Sunday Ade Ojo

Death is inevitably inevitable indeed and visits everyone... He who is affected/impacted knows the gravity/impact. Life is fragile and unpredictable! TODAY, March 17, 2025, our beloved and cherished father, Pa Isaac Ade-Ojo aka Elekuru, passes on to eternity. He was confirmed dead after a brief illness a short while ago, aged NINETY (90). Incredibly sad!

The demise of the big ELEPHANT, Pa Elekuru, did not come as a surprise in that life is full of surprises and it was not unexpected for a nonagenarian to die but honestly it was shocking, positively shocking. Nobody wishes to hear the death of a loved one. Nevertheless, it has happened, it has happened. May his soul rest in peace. Prayers and thoughts are with the bereaved family grieving right now. The good Lord will give everyone the fortitude to bear the great loss!

Baba lived a fulfilled life. He was honestly honest to the core, a virtue inherited by all his loving children including this writer. Every person in the Nodal town of Igbara-Oke in Ondo State, Nigeria, used to say 'Omo Aba Elekuru' (the children of Elekuru) due to the uniqueness of lifestyle, popularity and honesty. He was a generous man and quite intelligent/incorruptible who never participated actively in dirty politics as he disliked dirty things with considerable passion. Actually, he was a card-carrying member of the party of the people.

Pa Elekuru was a seasoned farmer, though retired as a civil servant. The man of integrity was fond of sharing his farm produce with people in his neighbourhood and beyond. He was one of those generous givers who would give their foods to 'alejo' (strangers) or the needy and go to bed hungry. He was one in a million! Undoubtedly, the Nodal town, Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole have lost such a rare gem, philanthropist and a gentleman par excellence.

However, Pa Ade-Ojo was not perfect as no one is. He was a polygamist with three and a half wives, typically typical of African men. Perhaps one of his Achilles' heels. He strived extremely hard always, always to make his family and friends happy. He will be greatly missed! Out of sight was not out of mind. Deeply saddened that dreams sometimes do not come to pass. Such is life! Everyone has to take solace in the fact that things happen for a reason. We shall meet in heaven God willing! Adieu Pa Elekuru... Peace!
